Extreme Duplication-type, Nonseparated Fenestration of the Basilar Artery in a Patient with Pontine Infarction: Confirmation with Virtual Arterial Endoscopy
We present a case of a 55-year-old woman with pontine infarction and fenestration of the basilar artery that was demonstrated using virtual endoscopy. The patient had motor weakness of the right side with sudden onset. Diffusion- and T2-weighted MR images revealed high signal intensities in the left pontine regions, and an MR angiographic examination showed the double-lumen sign of the basilar ...
متن کاملSegmental duplication of the basilar artery with thrombosis.
Duplication or fenestration of the basilar artery, a result of an embryologic malformation, has an incidence of up to 5.3% in the general population. The most common complication of this anomaly is the formation of aneurysms. Thrombosis of a partially duplicated basilar artery developed in a 43-year-old man who complained of visual disturbances followed by seizures and coma, and who eventually ...
متن کاملStudy of Posterior Cerebral Artery in Human Cadaveric Brain
Objective. Basilar artery (BA) terminates in right and left posterior cerebral arteries (PCAs). Each PCA supplies respective occipital lobe of the cerebrum. The present study is designed to know the morphology, morphometry, branching pattern, and symmetry of PCA. Methods. The study included 340 PCAs dissected from 170 human cadaveric brains. Results. Morphological variations of P1 segment inclu...
متن کاملBasilar artery duplication associated with pituitary duplication: a new finding.
Pituitary duplication is a rare malformation, reported previously in approximately 18 patients. It is usually unsuspected before imaging, although it occurs most commonly in association with complicated midline and skull base anomalies. It is easily shown by MR imaging. Five new cases of pituitary duplication were diagnosed by using MR imaging studies reviewed at the Hospital for Sick Children....

Background: Complete colonic duplication is a very rare congenital anomaly that may have different presentations according to its location and size. Complete colonic duplication can occur in 15% of gastrointestinal duplication. We report two cases of complete colonic duplications, and their characteristics. Case Presentation: We present two patients with complete colonic duplication with differ...
